Description
Overview
The Kobold classic Composition is a modular sofa by Erwan Bouroullec for Ligne Roset, offered in 9 compositions and 34 fabric options. The Classic form of Kobold balances hyper comfort and posture: the sitting position is more upright and the seat is 40 cm high.
Construction
Spruce plywood panels and an ash veneered MDF cladding make up the seat frame. Arms and back use ash veneered MDF under a Bultex foam wrap and a 110 g/m² quilted polyester layer. The base is stained ash, with lacquered black beech where it cannot be seen. Two Bultex foam layers (36 kg/m³ and 38 kg/m³, both 2.8 kPa) form the seat cushion, while the back cushions mix Bultex foam with goose feathers.
Specifications
Overall height: 710 mm in every composition.
Story
Classic posture in a modular system
Kobold is built from one-armed settees and daybeds. For the Classic form, a more upright posture invites interaction and socialisation, and the seat rises to 40 cm.
Piping and stitching
The piping reinforces the "classic" and luxurious side. Double piping finishes the seat and back cushions, simple piping finishes the lumbar cushions, and two satin stitches cross the seat cushion. The design rests on better manufacturing: fewer materials, fewer resources, and a lot of rigour in the forms.
