Description
Overview
Marcio Kogan / Studio MK27 designed Horizonte Bed as the bedroom version of the Horizonte modular seating system. The system's rigorous and light horizontal line reappears as a base lifted off the ground, carrying the mattress and headboard. A prominent rear panel carries the nightstand, in different types of wood, flush or cantilevered.
Construction
The base is covered in leather, fabric, or a mix of both: stitched leather strips with folded-back edges, fabric strips with a central profile, or strips joined by a hidden zip. The frame is a single freestanding piece of metal-reinforced plywood coated in variable-density polyurethane foam, and the one-piece headboard is plywood with elastic webbing and polyurethane foam under a quilted polyester-fibre and white cotton covering. The feet are 25 mm diameter satin-finish solid metal rods varnished in polished Brandy.
Specifications
- Height: 84 cm (33 1/8 in)
- Rear panel configurations: Offset (two panels, nightstands included) and Fit (one flush panel, nightstands optional)
- Nightstands: boxed MDF veneered in ash, oak or palisander Santos, with a drawer on full-extension Blumotion guides
- Upholstery: fabric or leather, removable
Story
From the seating system to the night area
Horizonte Bed carries the horizontal line of the Horizonte modular seating system into the bedroom. It is the natural evolution of the system for the night area, and its horizontal line is rigorous and light. In the bed, the horizon line becomes the base lifted from the ground, with the mattress and the headboard resting on it.
Tailoring the base and the rear panel
The base is built from a combination of materials: all leather, all fabric, or an original mix of both for an even more refined, tailored look. The aerial architecture comes from the recessed feet in polished Brandy varnished metal and from the rear panel that supports the nightstand, in different types of wood. The bed works as a true system with a high level of adaptability, with all-fabric, all-leather and mixed versions across the base and the rear panel.
