Description
Overview
The HIROSHIMA Lounge Chair is by Naoto Fukasawa, and the Maruni sheet dates it 2009. The sheet singles out the lines that connect its arms and back and says its solid-wood appearance comes with soft curves that fit the back well; it calls the seating comfort perfect for relaxing in living rooms and lounges. The same sheet also covers the HIROSHIMA Ottoman.
Construction
The page lists beech, oak and walnut with urethane finishes. The seat is a flame resistant polypropylene injection sheet combined with molded urethane, and the sheet credits careful attention to the seat structure for a seat that never feels as if you touch the bottom. Fabric models have loose covers that come off for dry cleaning, with replacement covers available; leather is fixed to the chair and cannot be taken off. Foams and materials meet BS5852 Source 5.
Specifications
- Dimensions: W 678 × D 640 × H 684 mm, seat height 375 mm (page text)
- The sheet lists the ISO 7173-L4 and ISO 7174 tests and the ISO 12460 formaldehyde test (not exceeding 0.4 mg/l); purpose of use: indoor
- Leg-tip gliders are optional and sold separately; the sheet offers felt or plastic bottom parts
Story
Arms and back as one line
For the Maruni sheet the lounge chair's main feature is the line joining arms and back, with a carved-from-solid-wood look and soft curves that suit the back.
Seat and cover
The sheet explains that the seat structure was studied so the sitter never feels the bottom, and that the removable fabric cover lets the owner adapt the chair to the season or the interior and keeps maintenance easy.
