Description
Overview
Ayana is an outdoor chair designed by Naoto Fukasawa and dated 2020 on the B&B Italia product page. The maker describes its proportions as a reference to South-East Asian tradition and its backrest as recalling a Swedish wall bar.
Construction
The frame is solid wood. The upholstery uses shaped polyurethane of different density with a water-repellent polyester-fibre cover; the ferrules are thermoplastic. B&B Italia also lists a weatherproof PES textile with a PU coating on one face.
Specifications
The AY86P drawing gives 855 mm W × 910 mm D × 710 mm H. The drawing also shows a 400 mm vertical value that is not labelled on the drawing; it is retained as evidence only, not as a named seat dimension.
Story
Oriental and Swedish references
B&B Italia presents Ayana as a study in wood, with the depth and height referring to South-East Asian tradition and the backrest recalling a Swedish wall bar.
A wider outdoor series
The product page places Ayana within a wider series of chairs, tables and small tables. The maker says the teakwood frames are FSC® certified and that the series components are intended to be separated and handled through environmentally responsible disposal at the end of their service life.
