Overview
The RE in the name stands for recycled: the shell of this Eames stool is made by Vitra from recycled plastic. It rests on a four-legged base with footrest, in black or chrome-plated steel, and this High version is cut for tables at standing height. Cushion and full upholstery are available as options.

Construction
Shell material is recycled polypropylene that is coloured through and can be recycled again in full. Since it is reprocessed, tiny pigment specks show in every colour. Below it comes a non-stackable tube-steel base, chrome-plated or powder-coated; on the powder-coated version, the anti-slip coating of the footrest may wear and show marks.
Specifications
The base is 560 mm wide and 540 mm deep and the stool is 1200 mm high; the shell measures 460 by 465 mm. The front edge of the seat is at 820 mm without a cushion. Base finishes: chrome (01) or smooth basic dark powder coat (30).
Story
A shell on a taller base
Vitra's page dates the stool 1950 with the rest of the Plastic Chairs RE. Only the support is new: a four-legged tubular steel base with a footrest, derived from the DSX chair base according to the factbook and reshaped for the higher seat.
Two heights
The page and the factbook describe the Medium and High stools as one pair, with the high version meant for standing-height tables and a seat front edge of 820 mm.
