Description

Overview

The Eames Contract Tables are small tables on the universal base that Charles and Ray Eames developed for them. Vitra offers round tops in Ø700 and Ø800 mm and a square 750 x 750 mm model, for small meetings or as bistro tables.

Construction

A pedestal base with four-star legs in die-cast aluminium carries tops in white melamine, oak veneer, white solid core or HPL. The glides adjust by up to 10 mm.

Specifications

Ø700 mm round, 740 mm high (page default size); Ø800 mm round and 750 x 750 mm square are also offered. Five tops and four base versions.

Story

A base from the Soft Pad years

Vitra dates the Contract Tables to 1968 and says Charles and Ray Eames designed the universal base for them. Its form strongly resembles the bases of the Soft Pad Group, while its structure recalls the larger Eames Segmented Tables.

Indoors and out

Vitra lists the tables as small meeting tables and bistro tables for indoor and outdoor use; the outdoor version has a powder-coated base and a solid core top.
