Dumas Sofa

Overview

Dumas is a 2016 sofa by Piero Lissoni for Living Divani. The maker's page speaks of a bourgeois inspiration that reproduces, in a renewed way, a form remembered as the ultimate comfort, with generous and liveable padded shapes.

Construction

The sofa has a custom-shaped 3 mm thick extruded aluminium frame, with a seat chassis inserted into the base in 40x30 mm tubular steel coated in epoxy polyester powder. Seat cushions are goose down split into chambers, with a polyurethane foam and Visco-soft insert at the core. The sofa stands on a Ø30 mm tubular steel bracket in burnished epoxy powder finish with plastic tips, or on solid Stone Oak veneered feet with a water-based acrylic finish.

Specifications

The technical drawing of the 192 cm sofa gives 192, 102 and 76 cm (axes not labelled on the drawing), with 89, 72, 58, 40 and 15 cm also marked. Seat depth for the sofa is listed as 72 to 92 cm.

Lengths and the XL version

The technical sheet draws the Dumas sofa at 192, 222, 282 and 327 cm, and a Dumas XL sofa at 282 and 327 cm with 122 cm in the plan view in place of 102. The sheet states that the model is not available as modular.

Feet and wood

Two foot options are shown: tubular steel in burnished paint, and solid wood veneered in Stone Oak®. The sheet explains that Stone Oak owes its colouring to a natural process, so some slabs look browner than others, and that this variation is not a defect.
