Description
Overview
Downtown is a bookcase and shelving system designed by Oiva Toikka for Magis in 2011, shaped like a skyscraper. It is a sculptural object that invites children to treat a skyscraper as a bookcase for books and toys, functional and funny at the same time.
Construction
The bookcase is made in rotational-moulded polyethylene, and it is suitable for outdoor use. It is offered in white.

Story
A skyscraper that holds books and toys
Oiva Toikka designed Downtown in 2011 as a shelving object in the shape of a skyscraper. The piece is functional and funny at the same time: a sculptural tower that invites kids to store their books and toys in a skyscraper.
Rotational-moulded polyethylene
The tower is made in rotational-moulded polyethylene, and the product is suitable for outdoor use. Toikka says: "My creations are the same as my chatter. I babble constantly, and making is the same, just in physical form."
