Description
Overview
Designed by PearsonLloyd for Tacchini, the Crystal armchair appears to float above the floor because of the diagonal silhouette of its base. That silhouette gives it a distinctive architectural form and the illusion of hovering mid-air.
Construction
Padding in multi-density polyurethane foam over a wooden frame sits under a cover of fabric or leather. The armchair stands on plastic glides or a swivel base.
Specifications
96 x 80 x 68 cm (W x D x H, 0CRYPL096).
Story
Oblique corners and obelisks
The oblique corners recall the shapes of ancient obelisks. Full volumes rest on a hidden base, fixed or swivel, and set up an architectural play of light and shadow.
Suspension and dynamism
PearsonLloyd gives the armchair a sense of suspension and dynamism that rests on skilful simplicity and avoids unnecessary aesthetic tricks. The armchair stands apart from any commonplace notion of an armchair.
