Description
Overview
Chemise Sofa Bed is Piero Lissoni's 2012 convertible model in the Chemise family. It returns to the soft, reassuring language of a classic sofa.
Construction
The poplar-plywood structure is padded with differentiated-density polyurethane foam. Goose-down back cushions have separate compartments and a foam insert. An electro-welded orthopedic base carries a steel-spring mattress with a cotton cover.
Bed specification
Two mattress widths are listed: 146 or 160 cm, each 190 cm long and 13 cm thick. The mattress is included; an expanded-polyurethane version is available on request. Seat depth is 68 cm.
Story
Chemise in convertible form
The sofa-bed edition dates to 2012, two years after the Chemise sofa. Its construction replaces the sofa's tubular supporting framework with a poplar-plywood body and a concealed orthopedic bed base.
Cover treatment
Fabric and leather covers remove by zippers and Velcro. A fabric version may carry a flounce four centimetres above the floor; leather and velvet versions are always made without it. This condition distinguishes the convertible model's cover treatment.
