Signed chest
Alessandro Mendini designed model 7860, Cetonia, in 1984; Zanotta presents it as a signed chest of drawers. A lacquered wooden frame carries hand-painted polychrome decoration across the cabinet. The same model number appears in the Edizioni catalogue.
Hardware and interior
The handles are natural anodised aluminium, while the drawer interiors are grey lacquered wood. The manufacturer's drawing places 120, 54 and 88 cm around the front and side views, but it does not attach axis names to those printed figures.
Story
Mendini's 1984 Cetonia
The Zanotta page, product sheet and Edizioni catalogue all identify Alessandro Mendini as the designer and 1984 as the product's year. Cetonia is described as a signed original.
Painted surface and fitted drawers
Its decoration is applied by hand to a lacquered wood frame. The specification distinguishes the exterior treatment from the drawer interiors, which Zanotta gives as grey lacquered wood, and from the natural anodised aluminium handles.
