Overview
Singer is a signed art object in the form of a chair, designed by Bruno Munari in 1945. Zanotta describes it as a chair for very brief visits and produces nine numbered and signed originals.
Construction
The frame is wax-finished walnut in its natural colour, with inlay details. The inclined seat is anodised aluminium, and Zanotta states that each series uses a different seat colour.
Drawing values
The values 35, 20 and 105 cm are not labelled with axes on the drawing.
Story
A deliberately brief visit
Munari's explanation describes the seat as shorter than usual and tilted forward while the back is higher, shaping a chair intended for guests whose visits should remain brief.
A signed edition
Singer is presented as an art object rather than ordinary serial seating. The official sheet identifies nine numbered and signed examples and records the original 1945 design.
