Overview
Zabro is Alessandro Mendini's 1984 table-chair for Zanotta Edizioni. It is a signed original whose large circular element changes function when repositioned. The official sheet identifies the signed original as model 5060.
Construction
The top and seat are lacquered wood with polychrome decoration applied by hand. The armrests are leather-covered, and the top folds down to convert the chair into a table.
Drawing values
The values 93, 50 and 137 cm are not labelled with axes on the drawing.
Story
One object, two functions
Zanotta specifies Zabro as a table-chair rather than as two separate pieces. The top folds down to convert the chair into a table, while the lacquered top and seat carry hand-applied polychrome decoration and the armrests are leather-covered.
A signed 1984 work
The product page credits Alessandro Mendini and dates the design to 1984. Zanotta identifies model 5060 as a signed original within the Edizioni collection.
