Overview
Catifa Sensit is Arper's upholstered task-chair collection for residential and contract settings. The collection keeps the office mechanism visually discreet: Arper describes an integrated synchronised self-weighting mechanism in the back, allowing the backrest to incline while supporting the user. The silhouette is presented as a contemporary chair that can move between home and work environments.
Construction
The shell is entirely upholstered and is offered in fabric, coated fabric or leather. Arper lists three backrest heights—high, medium and low—so the same collection covers several proportions. The base can be specified as a four-spoke swivel base, with or without a return mechanism, or as a five-spoke base on casters with height adjustment. Two optional armrest types complete the range: an aluminium version and a fully upholstered closed version.
Article #4901
Article #4901 is the low-back version on a central swivel four-spoke base. Its page describes the base as glossy or painted aluminium and identifies the synchronised self-weighting mechanism as part of the chair. Its overall dimensions are 66.5 cm across, 53.5 cm front-to-back and 82.5 cm high.
Recognition
Arper's collection page credits Lievore Altherr Molina and dates Catifa Sensit to 2014. The page also lists an IF Design Award from 2015. The product page for article #4901 lists GREENGUARD Gold certification and EPD certification among its documentation.
Story
A quiet office mechanism
Arper positions Catifa Sensit as a task chair that avoids the visual bulk usually associated with office technology. Its synchronised self-weighting mechanism is integrated into the back, allowing the backrest to follow movement while keeping the chair's outline calm.
A collection of proportions
The 2014 design by Lievore Altherr Molina is offered in three backrest heights and with several base choices. Article #4901 is the low-back, four-spoke version. The collection can also use a five-spoke base on casters, adjustable in height, and two optional armrest treatments.
Recognition
The Arper page lists an IF Design Award from 2015. The product documentation for #4901 also lists GREENGUARD Gold and EPD certification.
