Description

Overview

Living Divani lists Bubble Rock as a 2005 sofa designed by Piero Lissoni. Its product page talks of a volatile shape, an unconventional appearance and soft lines: well proportioned yet slightly offbeat, with a sassy chic as its distinctive feature.

Construction

The indoor version has a one-piece frame in poplar and fir honeycomb panel with a suspension of cross-woven elastic straps in coated rubber. Padding is differentiated-density polyurethane foam under a needle-treated polyester fibre layer, and the upholstery comes in fabric or leather. Zippers and Velcro fastenings let the fabric version come off completely. Floor support is by adjustable plastic feet.

Specifications

The technical sheet draws the system as elements in different shapes and dimensions. The representative element carries 202, 128 and 60 cm (axes not labelled on the drawing), with 175 cm printed beside the 202 on the front view.

Story

Elements in different shapes

The technical sheet presents Bubble Rock as a set of elements in different shapes and dimensions, drawn with printed values between 80 and 250 cm. The sheet is shared by the indoor and outdoor versions of the product.

A separate outdoor construction

The outdoor version replaces the poplar and fir frame with a one-piece frame in outdoor plywood and uses open-cell polyurethane foam with polyester fibre padding and a draining fabric cover. Its upholstery is in outdoor fabrics that also remove with zippers and Velcro fastenings. For either version, a 4 cm spacer screws onto the standard feet to raise the elements.
