Overview
Betty TK4 is a 105 cm bench designed by Thau & Kallio in 2020, with a seat of exposed webbing made by hand from natural linen fibres.
Construction
Frame of solid wood and form-pressed veneer; the seat is webbed by hand from natural linen with polypropylene webbing. Felt gliders are fitted as standard. FSC certified wood.
Specifications
H 46 × W 105 × D 36 cm (18.1 × 41.3 × 14.2 in). Weight 5.8 kg. Indoor use.
Story
A bench for the Betty series
The 2020 press release presents the bench as an extension of the stackable Betty chair, keeping the chair's distinctive features and sturdy construction. Its solid oak frame echoes the wooden pavilion of the theatre the series is named after.
The exposed seat
The webbing is not hidden under the frame: the designers exposed it, and the release describes the result as a soft, cushioned seat of natural linen straps woven by hand.
