Story
The table beside the chair
Knoll's page for the Barcelona Table calls it the perfect complement to the Barcelona Chair, and describes a chrome and glass design that pairs modern style with simple sophistication. The design-plan heading gives the year 1929, and the shop ties the collection to the German Pavilion that Mies designed in 1929.

No trivial decoration
Knoll's product sheet says the table reflects the philosophy of "no trivial decoration" that Mies applied to architecture and design, and that it is at once functional and formal, available in stainless steel or chrome. The sheet describes an impressive awareness of proportion, detailing and craftsmanship, and a richness and integrity of materials.
