A companion with its own role
Nicola Gallizia designed Azul Bench as a complement to the Azul bed. Molteni&C also presents the bench as an independent furnishing, sized once to coordinate with every bed size.
Wrapped steel structure
A hot-welded steel frame is fitted with non-slip plastic ferrules. The seat uses a medium-density fibre panel with polyurethane padding and a cotton/polyester fibre cover. Regenerated hide leather envelops the structure, with stitching used to articulate the continuous surface; the hide-leather cover is fully removable.
APN01
The drawing prints 166, 41 and 43 cm for APN01. The three values are not labelled with axes on the drawing.
Story
Proportion beside the bed
The official page describes Azul Bench as a natural counterpart to the bed and connects it with Nicola Gallizia's concern for craftsmanship and proportion. A single size was selected to work with every size of the bed rather than producing a series of widths.
Material continuity
Molteni&C wraps the powder-coated steel structure in regenerated hide leather. Careful stitching traces the covering and expresses the artisanal work that turns the structural frame into a continuous upholstered form.
