Marie C Dorner

Background

Marie-Christine Dorner (listed by Ligne Roset as Marie C Dorner) is a designer and interior architect who graduated from the école Camondo in Paris. Her career was kick-started by sojourns in Paris, Tokyo and London: she spent a year in Tokyo designing her first collection of furniture for Idée before opening her first office in Paris.

Signature Style

Her projects are strikingly diverse. Her collection Une Forme, One Shape, exhibited in 2004 in Paris, Tokyo and Kyoto, was made up of jewellery, objects and furniture in wood, gold, porcelain, bamboo, ceramic and composite materials by the best artisans in France and Japan.

Notable Works

Among her best-known projects are La Villa at Saint-Germain-des-Prés, the restaurant of the Comédie Française, the presidential grandstand for 14 July at the top of the Champs-Élysées, street furniture for the city of Nîmes and designs for the Mobilier National. Her Ligne Roset creations include Uncover, Amédée, Grand angle, Suki, Camma, Etna, Abandon, Pompon and the Mc2 occasional table.

Legacy

In 1995 she received the "Grand Prix du Design de la ville de Paris". She has given lectures in London and in France.
