Description

Overview

The Ruflette suspended ceiling light is credited to Marie-Christine Dorner. Its shade is white 100% cotton fabric, with a diameter of 75 cm and a height of 17 cm.

Construction

A rufflette is a thick strip of tape sewn to the top of curtains so they can be gathered. On this light, a tall rufflette is wrapped around the outer edges of the widest part of the shade, and it pleats the cotton fabric into regular pleats on the two slopes of the shade. The ceiling fitting is 4 cm high and 20 cm in diameter. The light hangs on 3 steel wires of 3 m each, height-adjustable through a coulistop mechanism, and a 3.60 m textile cable in gris perle.

Lighting

The light source is 180 cm of LED ribbon rated 14.4 W in total, with an output of 2,160 lumens (150 W incandescent equivalent) in a warm white of 2,700 K. The LEDs are interchangeable, total consumption is 17.3 W and the LED ribbon is dimmable.

Specifications

Shade Ø 750 mm x H 170 mm. The overall hanging height is adjustable.

Story

From curtain tape to a pleated shade

A rufflette is the thick tape sewn to the top of curtains so they can be gathered and hung from hooks. For Ruflette, Marie-Christine Dorner has a tall rufflette wrapped around the outer edges of the widest part of the shade. The tape pleats the 100% cotton fabric into regular pleats on its two slopes. It is a classic technique, applied to a contemporary design.

Suspension and light source

The light hangs on 3 steel wires of 3 m each, height-adjustable via a coulistop mechanism, with a 3.60 m textile cable in gris perle. The ceiling fitting is 4 cm high and 20 cm in diameter. The light source is a dimmable LED ribbon, 180 cm long, rated 14.4 W in total and warm white at 2,700 K.
