Biography
Background
Lorenzo Bini is the founder of the BINOCLE studio, which he has led since 2011. His training took place in Oslo and Milan, and he graduated from the Politecnico; his early career was spent working with several studios on projects in Milan and Rotterdam. In 2003 he co-founded Studiometrico, an organisation active until 2011.
Signature Style
Bini develops each project from a consolidated working method built on accumulated experience, in which even very different elements coexist. Each intervention starts from a confrontation with the existing space and its history, as part of a process of transformation that respects, reinterprets and enhances what already exists. His practice spans architecture, staging and design.
Notable Works
His Tacchini products are Orpheus, Parker and Colombo & 1953.
Legacy
He has taught as a visiting professor at the Design Academy Eindhoven and currently lectures at NABA and the Politecnico di Milano. On reissuing existing pieces he says it is a necessity rather than a nostalgic gesture or a matter of trend.
