Description
Overview
Orpheus is Lorenzo Bini's dining table inspired by a detail of Cy Twombly's 1979 painting of the same name. The broad, irregular outline turns that painted gesture into a functional surface.
Construction
The top and five legs use brushed matt Fior di Pesco marble. Each leg is assembled from slightly offset strips of the same material, extending one finish through the entire composition.
Specifications
Model 0ORHTV200 measures 200 x 161 x 73 cm (W x D x H). T161 Brushed Matt Fior di Pesco Marble is the sole published finish.
Story
A line taken from a painting
Bini traced a portion of Twombly's Orpheus to establish the tabletop's indefinite perimeter. The result becomes an invitation to gather and pay tribute to the work that gave the table its form.
Five constructed supports
Rather than conventional uniform posts, five legs are built by placing narrow strips slightly out of alignment. The same stone continues from surface to supports.
