Collection Story

Origin

The collection began with the Secto 4200 pendant, launched in 1999. Seppo Koho and Secto Design founder Tuula Jusélius had been making wooden furniture together since 1995, and the lack of wooden lamps to go with it led Koho to design the conical pendant that became the backbone of the Secto Design collection.

Design Language

Koho builds his lamps from clear basic shapes - squares, circles and triangles - multiplied into circular forms, following the idea that less is more. Each lamp is made of form-pressed Finnish birch slats that hide the light source and cast soft patterns of light and shadow; Koho describes them as illuminated spaces seen from the outside.
