Description

Overview

Octo 4240 is introduced on Secto Design's page as a grand and airy pendant, a classic whose lightness makes it comfortable also in small spaces. Architect Seppo Koho is named as designer, with a 2005 launch.

Construction

Highly skilled craftspeople in Finland make the lamp by hand from PEFC-certified form-pressed birch. The shade is offered untreated birch, in white or black laminate, or in walnut veneer. White cable and ceiling cup go with three of them, black with the black laminated shade. A ceiling suspension patented by Dezall is used; the page says the cup then sits perfectly tight against the ceiling. The page also describes how to open the lamp: lift off the top sheltering structure, and hold the lamp body, not the shade, when lifting.
