Description
Overview
Secto Design's page introduces Secto 4200 as "The very first Secto pendant lamp. An innovative modern classic that led to the birth of the Secto Design collection." The product page says it was designed by architect Seppo Koho and launched in 1999.
Construction
Secto Design states that the lamp is handmade from PEFC-certified form-pressed birch in Finland by highly skilled craftspeople; the material line reads form-pressed birch slats. The finishing options are natural birch, white laminated, black laminated and walnut veneer; the cable and ceiling cup are white, or black with the black laminated shade. The pendant uses the patented Dezall ceiling suspension, which the page says is easy and quick to install and lets the ceiling cup sit tight against the ceiling; spare cable can be swirled into the cup when the hanging height changes.
Specifications
- Dimensions: height 60 cm, diameter Ø 30 cm

- Classification: IP20, IEC Protection Class II, CE marking; attachable to DALI systems with a separate DALI-compatible dimmer

Story
Made by hand in quantity
Secto Design recalls that the Secto 4200 was unique when it appeared, and that it took considerable time and effort to find a craftsperson able to make it in large quantities while keeping the artisanal touch. Today the shade is handmade in Finland from PEFC-certified form-pressed birch slats.
The first Secto pendant
Secto Design's product page introduces the 4200 as the very first Secto pendant lamp and names architect Seppo Koho as its designer, with a launch in 1999. The origin of the lamp and the wider family are told in the Seppo Koho collection article.
