Collection Story
A modular outdoor family
Saparella is Ligne Roset's re-release of a pioneering Michel Ducaroy model from 1965. The outdoor family is built around a fireside chair, a concave central element called the diabolo, and a footstool. Its rounded forms can be rearranged for a terrace or garden.
Chair, diabolo and settee
The fireside chair has a convex side profile. The diabolo takes its name from the hourglass-shaped toy, and its concave outline lets it slot between two chairs. The sofa arrangement places one diabolo between a pair of fireside chairs; a polished stainless connector locks the trio into position.
Outdoor construction
The seating uses polyether foam at the base and sides, with high-resilience Bultex foam in the seat and back. A ventilated Batyline-type support and the convex seat shape help water drain. The supporting Bultex grade is specified at 36 kg/m³ and the upper comfort grade at 38 kg/m³.
An impermeable liner encloses each upholstered element before 200 g/m² polyester padding and the outer textile. Covers can be removed. A 5 mm baguette stitch normally defines the seams; Gayac is the named upholstery exception and omits that stitch. The material menu also includes Roma acrylic, Silvertex, Tess polypropylene and Top multilayer composite alongside Gayac.
Two formats
The one-place fireside chair is 780 mm wide, 1,000 mm deep and 680 mm high. It has a 340 mm seat height and weighs 13 kg. The completed three-place settee keeps the same 1,000 mm depth, 680 mm height and 340 mm seat height, while extending to 2,200 mm wide and 39.5 kg. These measurements describe the assembled outdoor pieces rather than the diabolo or footstool on their own.
The chair can therefore serve as an independent low seat or as one end of the linked sofa. The common foam build, drainage approach and removable upholstery keep the separate pieces visually and technically aligned when the arrangement changes.
