Moon (Living Divani)

Origin

Moon is a collection by Mist-o for Living Divani. Its starting point is a bedside table in which two half circles stand side by side and show their inner surfaces as they open; the idea was later taken up again and widened with Full Moon, Moon Eclipse and Moon Satellite.

Design Language

Each piece combines cylinders and semi-cylinders: one part stays fixed while another swings open, and the curved oak plywood is 7 mm thick. A hinge joins the two portions and magnets set inside the supporting structure keep them closed. Both the bedside table and Moon Satellite come in right-hand and left-hand versions.

Key Pieces

The moving part of the bedside table runs on castors. Full Moon is a coffee table of Ø70 cm and h.33 cm: a fixed part and a flap door share the top, the door opens to 180°, and a rotating component with three compartments sits inside. Moon Eclipse pairs a fixed Ø105 cm, h.25 cm element with a Ø40 cm, h.40 cm element that has an opening portion, a swivelling removable tray for bottles and glasses, and wheels. Moon Satellite is a Ø40 cm, h.57 cm container on wheels; its two compartments differ in height and capacity, and the opening part swings to a maximum of 90° to 100°.
