Collection Story

Origin

Poltrona Frau presents GranTorino as Jean-Marie Massaud's modular seating family. The official Poltrona Frau sheet identifies the system with the heading 2013/2025 and describes the world of saddlery, artisanal luxury and expert workmanship as Massaud's inspiration. The family's most characteristic expression places hand-shaped saddle leather beside Pelle Frau® leather or fabric. This saddle covering is cut and moulded by hand so its edges follow the seat's geometry.

Design Language

Its underlying vocabulary pairs tubular metal seats and woven elastic belts with birch-plywood back and side panels. Different-density polyurethane foam and pressed felt are specified for the seat; the back and arms use polyurethane foam with polyester wadding. Back cushions are available either with goose down divided into horizontal chambers or with polyester wadding and viscoelastic polyurethane foam for shape retention.

Key Pieces

The range allows closed arrangements as well as modular and asymmetrical layouts. The technical sheet enumerates high, flat, medium, low, equipped low and soft low storage arm variants. Titanium-stained aluminium feet end in protective plastic caps. The family page groups two-seat, large two-seat, three-seat and large three-seat versions, with high, medium or flat arm configurations.
