Zabriskie Low Cabinet

Overview

The Zabriskie low cabinet is a storage unit by Roberto Lazzeroni. It is covered in Pelle Frau ColorSphere leather on the sides, doors and supports, and this version has four doors.

Construction

MDF panels with birch plywood sides form the structure. The doors are birch plywood upholstered in leather, with no handles: they extend slightly upward for an easier grip and end in titanium-finish metal edging. Inside, the carcass and dividers are finished in Extra Light Maple, and a MDF shelf adjusts in height by 5 cm up or down. The top is either Canaletto walnut veneer over birch plywood or a marble slab 2 cm thick with rounded edges. Adjustable feet with a hexagonal section come with an adjustment key.

A sideboard shape from the 1970s

Inspired by Michelangelo Antonioni's film of the same name, the Zabriskie storage range is drawn by Roberto Lazzeroni with extremely clean lines. Its horizontal cut recalls the sideboards of the 1970s, restated for a present-day interior.

Leather, metal and a projecting top

For the low cabinet, Pelle Frau leather upholstery, metal edges and a top that projects beyond the body give the unit its look. The doors close without handles and are edged in metal at their ends.
