Overview
The Turtle Chair is a shell chair designed by PearsonLloyd for Walter Knoll. The product sheet lists models 1861, 1866, 1863 and 1864.
Construction
A moulded foam plastic shell with an outer shell in white or black, or completely upholstered, holds polyurethane foam with a wadding cover. It turns on a four-star base of die-cast aluminium with glides, or a five-star base of polished aluminium with castors.

Story
Bucket seats as icons of design
Walter Knoll's press release says bucket seats have been icons of design for decades and that the London team PearsonLloyd found its own expressive interpretation. The outer bucket has clean sweeping lines, while a second, upholstered bucket inside is made for relaxing.
Dinner chair proportions
In terms of height and proportions, the press release says the dinner chair is about sitting comfortably at a table. The product page describes the seat as supportive on the outside and invitingly comfortable on the inside.
