Description

Overview

Superquadra coffee tables are low square and rectangular tables from the Superquadra line that Marcio Kogan and Studio MK27 designed for Minotti. They are made in two heights, with tops in marble, palisander Santos veneer or solid walnut slats.

Construction

The 25 mm tubular aluminium legs in polished Brandy varnish join a matt black aluminium rod frame, and black polyethylene glides protect the floor. Marble tops are 15 mm thick on a 32 mm miter-folded build over a 7 mm aluminium honeycomb panel.

Story

Named after a Brasilia plan

Minotti says the Superquadra line takes its name from the pilot town-planning design by Lucio Costa with Oscar Niemeyer, conceived in 1956 for a residential neighbourhood of Brasilia. The square volumes of its buildings on pilotis are reworked, in the maker's account, into the line's sideboards, benches, coffee tables and console table.

Tables set beside seating

Minotti describes the coffee tables as conceived to be set alongside sofas and seats, in an interplay of overlaps that also involves the console table, and says they embody the line's compositional versatility.
