Squash Armchair

Overview

The Squash armchair is designed by Faye Toogood for Poltrona Frau. Poltrona Frau describes it with generous and snug contours, made with a rigid trestle frame in polimex® that supports large, soft cushioning.

Construction

The structure is polimex® and poplar plywood; the base is birch plywood with a central steel crossbar painted black, and its legs are covered in leather. The glides are black nylon. Shell and legs have light expanded polyurethane padding, while the seat cushion and armrests use polyurethane of different densities with polyester wadding. The upholstery is Pelle Frau® leather, also two-tone, or a leather and fabric combination; only the backrest and seat cushion covers are removable.

A first collaboration

The product sheet presents the Squash collection as the first collaboration between Poltrona Frau and Faye Toogood, whose British studio is known for a soft and sculptural approach to design. The armchair follows that approach with its snug contours and large cushions.

Four recommended combinations

Faye Toogood recommends four Pelle Frau® ColorSphere® combinations for the armchair, named Cream, Sage, Blue and Brown. Each of the four is given on the sheet as two ColorSphere® colour codes.
