Sophora Lounge Chair

Overview

The Nemschoff Sophora Lounge Chair, designed by Lawrence Peabody, offers an upholstered seat design and solid wood, with an attractive floating leg base. Its smooth, contoured back makes it appealing from all angles.

Construction

The solid wood frame comes in maple, white oak or walnut, with mortise and tenon joinery under a matte, durable clearcoat. The seat uses spring construction, the covers are removable, and non-marring glides protect the floor. A clean-out design leaves a gap between seat and back for dust and debris.

Specifications

The chair measures 28.8 x 29 x 31.2 in (W x D x H) (Nemschoff Sophora Lounge Chair).

An upholstered barrel on a floating base

Sophora pairs an upholstered barrel seat with a floating leg base. The barrel design conveys a timeless look, and the smooth, contoured shape is appealing from every angle.

From a mid-century barrel chair

Sophora references a mid-century barrel chair, retooled for public settings with a new seat height and a change in scale. Sophora belongs to the Nemschoff Classics line-up, which revisits mid-century designs from the Peabody Collection of designer Lawrence Peabody.
