Overview
The Nemschoff Iris Settee is a 54 in wide settee by Lawrence Peabody, made for healthcare environments that see heavy use. Sloped sides and a high back recall mid-century modern furniture and provide privacy.
Construction
A solid maple, white oak or walnut frame carries the upholstery, joined with mortise and tenon and finished in a matte wood finish formulated for heavy use. The seat cushion is detachable, covers can be replaced on site, and the feet are non-marring glides. Armless and with-arms versions exist.
Specifications
The settee measures 54 x 32 x 40 in (W x D x H) (Nemschoff Iris Settee), with seat height at 18.5 in.
Story
Iris at settee width
Peabody's Iris seating combines a high back, sloped sides and soft curves, and the settee carries them across a 54 in width. The back offers some privacy and a striking look.
Peabody Classics
It belongs to the Peabody Classics Collection, whose pieces are updated interpretations of mid-century designs from the Peabody Collection, a residential line Nemschoff made with Richardson Bros. in the late 1950s. The Classics are offered in a choice of solid maple, white oak or walnut.
