Description

Overview

Naoto Fukasawa designed the 2006 Shelf bookcase with thin surfaces and strong geometry. B&B Italia describes its homogeneous Corian frame as giving the piece an almost immaterial presence.

Construction

The official sheet specifies a DuPont Corian acrylic frame. Four sizes are published: one is designed for wall mounting and the other three can stand in the centre of a room as a partition or screen. The SL180 wall-mounted version uses galvanised-steel fixing brackets.

Specifications

  • Representative variant: SL96
  • Largest drawing values, not labelled with axes: 96, 37 and 145 cm

Story

Four versions

Shelf is not presented as one fixed size. B&B Italia distinguishes a wall-mounted model from three freestanding versions that can also work as partitions or screens.

Material continuity

The product's visual idea is tied to a homogeneous Corian frame, thin surfaces and pronounced geometry. The manufacturer describes that combination as both an important presence and an almost immaterial one. The selected SL96 drawing represents one freestanding version; the wall-fixing brackets listed in the sheet apply specifically to SL180.
