Description

Overview

Screen 100 is a screen by Alvar Aalto for Artek. Artek says it brings Aalto's free-flowing, organic form, one of his predominant architectural themes, into living interiors, and that its vertically aligned pinewood strips provide structure and order.

Construction

The screen is solid pine, made in Finland from Finnish pinewood instead of the birchwood most commonly associated with Aalto furniture. It rolls up for storage and, unrolled, forms gently curving lines.

Story

Free-flowing form

Artek presents Screen 100 as a way to bring Alvar Aalto's free-flowing, organic form into living interiors. Vertically aligned pinewood strips give the screen structure and order and add natural warmth and organic character.

Rolled up or rolled out

The screen rolls up for storage; unrolled, it forms gently curving lines whose shape follows the needs of the space. Artek calls it light and well-proportioned, and easy to move around.
