Ruffle Bed

Overview

Ruffle Bed is a bed by GamFratesi for Minotti. It features generous proportions and soft volumes and expresses deep, calibrated comfort, designed to provide an enveloping resting experience. Its defining element is the slender, linear headboard, offered in a low and a high version and slightly raised from the floor. The bed comes with a single upholstered headboard fully covered in fabric or leather, or with two independent headboard elements that allow symmetrical or asymmetrical configurations and the integration of nightstands.

Construction

The free-standing bed frame is a one-piece frame in extra-thick plywood, designed to accommodate pocket springs with a surface layer of high-resilience (CFC-free) polyurethane foam, covered with perforated technical fabric. The headboard is plywood padded with variable-density polyurethane foam, encased in quilted heat-bonded polyester fibre, bonded to a hypoallergenic white cotton fabric with foam, and fixed to the frame by a quick-set-and-release coupling with black varnished metal plates. Covers are completely removable in fabric or leather. The feet are tubular metal in polished Black Coffee, with SEBS glides.

GamFratesi's Ruffle Bed is built around generous proportions and soft volumes. The linear headboard, slightly raised from the floor, is conceived to enhance the sense of well-being and becomes an aesthetic feature that enriches the surrounding space with elegance.

Paired bands that read as a continuous quilt

The design is defined by a pattern of paired bands that wrap around the headboard and the base, following their shape to create the effect of a continuous quilt. The bands are applied and stitched onto the upholstery with great precision, a sartorial craftsmanship that adds to the overall softness. In the double-headboard version the overhang is set by the width of the fabric strips, which keeps the overhang proportional to the volume of the bed.
