Description
Overview
Orion Outdoor is an outdoor seating system by Giampiero Tagliaferri for Minotti, built from layered volumes and gently inclined linear surfaces. Rectangular, square and trapezoidal modules let it be composed into changing configurations for domestic settings and open-air Hospitality environments.
Construction
A marine-grade plywood structure is coated in variable-density polyurethane foam and covered with water-repellent polyester fibre quilting. All cushions are encased in water-repellent polyester fabric, the covers are completely removable, and the tubular stainless steel feet rest on black SEBS glides. FSC® certified wood is used in the product.
Specifications
- Large seat cushions with converging stitching; backrest finished with tone-on-tone double stitching in an envelope design
- Feet in polished stainless steel or in stainless steel varnished in a polished Bronze colour
Story
From constellations to compositions
Orion Outdoor evokes the configurations of constellations, where distinct elements are arranged in patterns defined by orthogonal and oblique axes. The low, generous seating creates a direct connection with its surroundings, and the interplay of surfaces gives the layout a dynamic, light rhythm.
A concept drawn from John Lautner
The compositional concept takes inspiration from John Lautner's architectural research, in which elements relate as independent yet interconnected structures. The steel feet lift the volumes off the ground.
