Description
Overview
Giampiero Tagliaferri's Orion for Minotti is a seating system assembled from linear and polygonal modules (rectangular, square and trapezoidal), laid out along orthogonal and oblique axes. Seat cushions are generous, with stitching that converges inwards and a quilted finish; the backrest sits on the seat, closed by tone-on-tone double stitching in an envelope layout.

Construction
Plywood forms the structure, coated with CFC-free, variable-density polyurethane foam of high resilience and a heat-bonded fibre layer on hypoallergenic white cotton. The backrest cushion is channelled goose down around a 70x70 cm polyurethane insert. Every configuration stands on a perimeter frame with rounded corners, in Chrome, in Black Coffee varnished metal or in leather-upholstered metal, over a recessed base with adjustable feet. In all versions the upholstery is completely removable, and MDF or marble tops can be fixed to the base.
Specifications
For the Orion sofa 214 cm the drawing shows 214 cm wide, 109 cm deep and 84 cm high (the side view's overall height; the front view shows 69 cm). The base is 11 cm high as standard, and 2 cm spacer kits cost nothing extra when requested at order. The product includes FSC certified wood components.
Story
Like a constellation
Minotti describes a seating system of sophisticated sensuality, with volumes that overlap and are cut by unexpected geometry. A quiet reference to abstract constellation patterns lies behind it: independent elements that follow orthogonal and oblique axes.
Small buildings
The spatial vision is said to echo the architecture of John Lautner, each module behaving as an autonomous micro-architecture and free of conventional schemes. Seams, joints and profiles join furniture, architecture and graphics in a single gesture that Minotti calls a quiet manifesto for an elegant, fluid and unconventional way of living.
