Histoire
Mendini's 1985 design
The current product page credits Alessandro Mendini and dates Macaone to 1985; the model sheet and Edizioni archive confirm both details. Zanotta presents model 7020 as a signed piece.
Revisiting the 1950s
On the product page, Mendini connects Macaone to the Zabro pieces made for Aurelio Zanotta and Nuova Alchimia. He describes the work as a reinterpretation of stylistic features associated with 1950s Italian interiors.
