Description
Overview
The Lloyd low cabinet is a freestanding storage unit by Jean-Marie Massaud for Poltrona Frau. Sliding grilles of solid oak cover or open each compartment, and the sides are closed by fixed oak grilles. Saddle leather from two ranges covers the uprights and offers 18 colours in all.
Construction
Shelves of HPL laminate carry a natural oak veneer with a lead matte finish. The uprights are MDF wrapped in leather with clean-cut edges, and the freestanding unit rests on steel feet: the front outer feet are matt gunmetal grey, and the central feet are matt black lacquered. The solid oak sliding grilles have plastic glides.

Story
Grilles made rod by rod
Every grille is assembled from oak rods that are cut in different thicknesses and glued one by one by hand. The lead-coloured dye on these thin rods is applied by hand in several passes, and grooves cut in the shelves guide each grille.
Saddle leather uprights
Leather for the uprights is Re-Saddle, in 12 colours, or Saddle Extra, in 6. Its clean-cut edges are finished with a protective tone-on-tone colour.
