Libra Bed

Overview

Libra Bed is Giampiero Tagliaferri's design for the night area at Minotti. The overlapping rounded volumes of seat, backrest and headrest found in the Libra seats return in the bed, together with tailoring details in the upholstery. The profile that outlines the curling along the perimeter makes the bed particularly soft.

Construction

A spring sommier supports the mattress. The bed frame is built in one piece, free-standing, from extra-thick plywood; it takes pocket springs under a high-resilience, CF-free polyurethane foam surface and a perforated technical fabric cover. The headboard (backrest plus headrest) has a plywood core with variable-density polyurethane padding, wrapped in breathable high-loft quilted polyester fibre on a hypoallergenic white cotton backing. Piping stresses the gathering along the perimeter, and top-stitching runs across the headboard. All upholstery lifts off, in fabric and in leather.

The Libra seats at night

Libra Bed carries into the bedroom the rounded forms that mark the Libra seats. Giampiero Tagliaferri's design combines overlapping volumes for seat, backrest and headrest, and the upholstery follows them with careful tailoring.

Piping that follows the gathers

The frame and the headboard are tailored with piping that emphasises the gathering along the perimeter of each element, and the headboard carries top-stitching. The profile outlines the curling, which makes the bed particularly soft.
