Description

Overview

Le Mura is a modular system by Mario Bellini rather than a simple sofa. It combines elements of various shapes and sizes into virtually infinite configurations. Tacchini has reissued it in full respect of the original project, and 8 suggested compositions are published.

Construction

A wooden frame forms the core, covered with multi-density polyurethane foam and finished in fabric or leather. The clasp and zipper come in 2 finishes.

Specifications

Composition 3 (three modules) measures 285 W x 95 D cm.

Story

A manifesto of 1970s radical design

Bellini conceived Le Mura as a response to questions of aesthetics, proportions and ergonomics, and also to social, ethical and moral values. The result, in Tacchini's words, has an inexhaustible and overwhelming power that is as impactful today as it was then.

Stones that build walls

Modularity is central and is already expressed in the name. Like the large stones that once formed Roman walls, the elements can in theory be combined endlessly to fit spaces of any size without losing their strong stylistic identity. Le Mura is a soft architecture, designed to welcome and transform living space.
