Overview
The Nemschoff Iris Lounge Chair is a lounge chair designed by Lawrence Peabody for high-use healthcare environments. Its sloped sides and high back echo the lines of mid-century modern furniture while giving the sitter a degree of privacy.
Construction
A solid wood frame in maple, white oak or walnut has mortise and tenon joints and a matte wood finish made for frequent cleaning. The seat cushion detaches, the upholstery covers come off for replacement on site, and the chair stands on non-marring glides. It is offered armless or with arms.
Specifications
The chair measures 31 x 32 x 40 in (W x D x H) (Nemschoff Iris Lounge Chair), and its seat height is 18.5 in.
Story
A high back for privacy
Lawrence Peabody engineered Iris for high-use healthcare spaces. The tower-like back and soft curves give the chair a residential character in public settings, and the high back adds comfort and a degree of privacy.
From the Peabody Collection
Iris is one of the Nemschoff Classics, updated interpretations of pieces from the Peabody Collection, Nemschoff's late-1950s residential line made with Richardson Bros. and Peabody. The chair is reintroduced in solid hardwoods suited to public use.
