Description
Overview
Constance Frapolli's Heure bleue is a mouth-blown glass table lamp built from a clear cylindrical base and a blue lacquered bell-shaped upper element. A copper-plated steel handle rises from the top for moving the lamp.
Glass and light
The clear base is 187 mm in diameter and 93 mm high where visible. The blue element is 208 mm in diameter and 215 mm high. When the lamp is off, the bulb is concealed; when lit, it appears through the blue glass.
Electrical specification
A navy textile cable includes a hand-operated black switch. The supplied light source is a 7 W E27 LED globe, 80 mm in diameter, at 2,700 K and 806 lumens. Overall height is 390 mm, diameter 210 mm, and weight 4.1 kg.
Story
Blue glass changing with light
Heure bleue uses two stacked mouth-blown glass forms. The clear lower cylinder supports a deep blue bell whose appearance changes when the lamp is switched on and the globe becomes visible through the glass.
A handle above the shade
A compact copper-plated steel handle adds a warm metallic detail and provides a way to move the light. The navy cable continues the blue palette beyond the glass body.
