Description
Overview
Grek Box is a storage unit designed by Oscar & Gabriele Buratti in 2017. Slender aluminium sheet gives it a rigorous character. One basic unit can be wall-mounted or stand on the floor, and units combine side by side, overlapped, at an angle or two-faced. The balance of full and empty spaces makes compartments of different heights for books and objects of various sizes.
Construction
A 12 mm thick supporting frame, folded from an MDF and aluminium-sheet sandwich that is pressed and glued together, is finished in black ocean liquid painting.

Story
One basic unit, many arrangements
Oscar & Gabriele Buratti designed Grek Box in 2017 as a storage unit with a geometrical layered effect. Full and empty spaces are balanced so that the compartments have different heights, for books and objects of various sizes. The single basic unit may be wall-mounted or floor-standing and is combined side by side, overlapped, at an angle or two-faced.
Frame, fixing and finish
The folded 12 mm frame is made of MDF and aluminium sheet pressed and glued together, with black ocean liquid painting. The wall-mounted unit has a steel bar embedded in its back, with threaded holes for fixing to the wall through an MDF frame, plus an integrated hook and an inclination-control system for height, depth and inclination. The floor-standing unit has an MDF plinth and adjustable plastic tips.
