Description
Overview
Fred is a desk by Roberto Lazzeroni whose top is covered in a single piece of Saddle Extra leather, with a front edge that curves down. A drawer completes the desk. Fred dates from 2011.

Construction
The structure has a triangular cross-section and is solid ash, available in wenge (32) or moka (61). Under the leather, an MDF panel with scratch-resistant black paint forms the top, which is covered by a single 4 mm Saddle Extra piece with no divisions or seams. The drawer is solid ash with a 45° bevelled front edge, on soft-close metal runners.

Story
Light, almost ethereal geometries
The page calls Fred a meeting of light, almost ethereal geometries. The sheet speaks of a feather-light structure and the beauty of an uninterrupted saddle-leather surface.
Hand-made carvings and a curved front
On the page the surface is underlined by delicate hand-produced incisions and cold markings that create refined graphic decorations. A special craft process lets the saddle-leather front curve without internal supports.
