Story
From Rockefeller Center
Vitra dates the Stools to 1960 and traces them to three lobbies in New York City's Rockefeller Center, which the Eames Office was commissioned by Time Inc. to furnish. Charles and Ray Eames made the Lobby Chairs and a series of solid wood stools for the project.

A seat that holds a teacup
The fact sheet says the seats are concave enough to be comfortable but not so deep that a teacup would tilt and spill.
