Daiki

Overview

The Daiki armchair is Minotti's seat by Marcio Kogan / Studio MK27 with a wooden shell made of two elements joined at 45 degrees. It comes with or without armrests, on metal legs or on a swivel base, with cushions in fabric or in leather.

Construction

• Shell in palisander Santos (stained Dark Brown or natural) or beech plywood with flamed ash veneer
• Goose-down seat and backrest cushions around a foam core, joined by a zipper
• Armrests in aluminium sheet and integral skin polyurethane, covered in fabric or leather
• Fixed version on Black-Nickel steel legs; swivel version on a metal base, 360 degrees with return

Brazil and Japan

Minotti describes Daiki as a family of seats inspired by the Brazilian architect Marcio Kogan's passion for Japan and its culture. The page says the design refers to the moods of Mid-Century America through bold, simple lines, fine materials and balanced proportions.

Two joined elements

The seat is made with what Minotti calls an exclusive woodworking technique: two elements joined at 45 degrees give the backrest an inclination the page says guarantees maximum comfort. In the leather version the cushions are quilted with visible stitching, while the fabric version only features stitching.
