High-back Coronado
Afra and Tobia Scarpa's Coronado armchair was launched in 1966. The high back uses harmonic steel bands inserted into its frame as a suspension system, while cold-shaped polyurethane forms the upholstered volumes.
Layered construction
Tubular steel and steel profiles make up the internal frame. Different-density polyurethane and polyester fibre are specified for the seat, armrests and back cushion; the removable cover can be fabric or leather.
CCB96_A dimensions
The drawing labels the armchair at 96 × 96 × 94 cm, with a 57 cm arm height and 46 cm seat height.
Story
The high-back armchair
Coronado entered B&B Italia's catalogue in 1966. This armchair version is defined by its tall back and by the suspension concealed within that back frame.
Steel-band suspension
Harmonic steel bands are inserted into the frame to support the sitter. Cold-shaped polyurethane builds the surrounding padded volumes, while separate densities are specified for the seat, armrests and back cushion.
